Which neighbourhood properties are affected?

The new rules also apply to some properties that are not on Major Streets.

These permissions apply  to detached homes that are in the Toronto and East York District and are:

  • on a corner lot on a Community Street;
  • beside a park or public school that fronts on the same street; or
  • beside a qualifying commercial or institutional property that fronts on the same street.

Community Streets

Community Streets are certain Minor Arterial and Collector streets that are not designated Major Streets.

COTRA has compiled list of approved Community Streets in the Toronto and East York district to make it easier to determine whether a property is located on one of these streets.

Because the City does not provide a single consolidated list, COTRA has compiled this information using the City’s zoning maps and road classifications.

Please note: This list is provided as a guide and may contain errors or omissions. If you are checking a specific property, we recommend also consulting the City’s maps and the applicable zoning by-law.
